Facilitation skills
Course overview:
This course is particularly designed to help participants understand the basics that would play a crucial role in making facilitation easier in their process for change. It shows the procedures to be followed in the course of facilitation on a step-by-step basis and attempts to impart knowledge with regard to understanding socio-cultural situations of the groups where development workers and animators are expected to address and in scanning individual and collective forces at work in a particular setting. Training participants will be encouraged as to how they could lead the process of facilitation using a set of skills and tools and as to how best they could tap the existing capacities of the group where they are facilitating the process of discussions in their search for a response to challenging situations. Hence, the training will make the facilitators to be able to be more responsive and proactive by creating space for participants to reflect, envision and plan their responses. It strengthens the capacity of participants to identify, implement, maintain and sustain desired changes.

- What are facilitation skills?
- Setting a good environment for making facilitation enjoyable,
- Planning a meeting (participants, logistics and room arrangements),
- Good facilitation processes, (sociogram, skills and tips facilitators,)
By the end of the training participants will be able to:
- Understand fundamentals of facilitation skills,
- How to set-up a suitable environment for facilitating a meeting, workshop and/or training,
- Plan and deliver a good facilitation process,
- Ensure active participation
- Acquire skills that are needed to make a facilitation session lively,
- Deal with disrupters: Preventions and interventions,
- Understand ways of summarizing the meeting and follow-up actions
